Elle peut \u00eatre mesur\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle individuelle, d\u2019une entreprise ou d\u2019un pays. L\u2019empreinte carbone individuelle englobe les \u00e9missions li\u00e9es \u00e0 la consommation d\u2019\u00e9nergie, au transport et \u00e0 l\u2019alimentation. L\u2019empreinte des entreprises inclut la production et la logistique, tandis que l\u2019empreinte nationale se concentre sur les \u00e9missions globales d\u2019un pays. Cependant, la transition vers les \u00e9nergies renouvelables (solaire, \u00e9olien) est en cours dans de nombreux pays pour r\u00e9duire ces \u00e9missions.<\/p><p>La fondation <a href=\"\/fr\/empreinte-carbone\/voiture-thermique\/\">transports,<\/a> notamment routier, a\u00e9rien et maritime, g\u00e9n\u00e8re environ 16 % des \u00e9missions mondiales. L\u2019essor des v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques repr\u00e9sente une opportunit\u00e9 pour r\u00e9duire l\u2019empreinte carbone, bien que les \u00e9missions li\u00e9es \u00e0 la fabrication et \u00e0 la production d\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 doivent \u00eatre prises en compte.<\/p><p>Dans le secteur industriel, la production d\u2019acier, de ciment et de produits chimiques est responsable d\u2019environ 21 % des \u00e9missions mondiales. Les pays riches comme les etats-unis et les pays du golfe ont des \u00e9missions par habitant beaucoup plus \u00e9lev\u00e9es, souvent en raison d\u2019une forte consommation d\u2019\u00e9nergie et d\u2019un mode de vie \u00e9nergivore. En revanche, les pays en d\u00e9veloppement comme l\u2019Inde ou certains pays d\u2019afrique ont des empreintes bien plus faibles. Ces diff\u00e9rences sont li\u00e9es aux habitudes de consommation : en am\u00e9rique du nord et en europe, la consommation d\u2019\u00e9nergie, le transport en voiture et une alimentation riche en viande augmentent l\u2019empreinte carbone.
