About dragopaint
Motivations & challenges
Motivation #1
Dragopaint aims to gain a better understanding of its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and has therefore commissioned D-Carbonize. The company also has a strong presence in the French market, where regulations on environmental declarations for construction products are particularly strict.
Motivation #2
Dragopaint’s clients are increasingly requesting information about its sustainability data.
Challenges
Conducting Dragopaint’s carbon footprint assessment required an in-depth understanding of the nature of its products. Numerous discussions ensured that all raw materials were taken into account and that the most suitable emission factors were applied, despite the lack of exact matches for certain chemical substances. The analysis of reduction potential was also complex due to strict requirements regarding paint composition. However, a supplier recently introduced a bio-based component that significantly reduces the carbon footprint.
What did D-Carbonize bring to the company?
Thanks to D-Carbonize, Dragopaint has now better control over its emissions, particularly regarding the contribution of raw materials.
01
The company decided to focus on lower-carbon products in order to meet customer demands and contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
02
The assessment also prompted the company to re-evaluate its working practices in light of its carbon footprint. For example, it is currently reviewing its supply chain to reduce the number of kilometers traveled by delivery trucks.
03
Results
As with any company producing material goods, its emissions are primarily tied to its products, that is, its core business. In Dragopaint’s case, the purchase of raw materials, chemicals, and paint components accounts for over 80% of its greenhouse gas emissions. Logistics, both the transportation of raw materials and the delivery of finished products to customers, represents the second largest source of emissions.
