Motivation & challenge

Motivation

Conscious about the importance of reducing its GHG emissions, Golden Palace management team engaged in a carbon assessment with D-Carbonize to better understand how to reduce these emissions. This initiative is part of a wider drive to adopt a sustainable and responsible approach. This initiative is part of a wider drive to adopt a sustainable and responsible approach.

Challenge

Golden Palace’s sector of gaming is a particular one compared to other companies as it mainly relies upon its clients to play in their gaming rooms. One of the challenges of data collection lies in the means of transport used by customers, information that is not always available.

What did D-Carbonize bring to the company ?

Using European statistical data for a first assessment, D-Carbonize has lifted the veil on the emissions related to the gaming rooms’ visitors, coming from BENELUX area and France.

01

Golden Palace now has a better understanding of the origins of its emissions and the priority areas on which it needs to focus, namely the collection of accurate, up-to-date data on its customers' means of transport.

02

The Golden Palace team is now ready to integrate the knowledge of assessing its carbon footprint over time.

03

Therefore, D-Carbonize has guided its sustainable team in doing so, which is now on the way to be autonomous with it.

Results

The main sources of greenhouse gas emissions at Golden Palace are split between mobility and purchases, accounting for 36.41% and 36.52% of the total carbon footprint, respectively.

• Mobility mainly includes the travel of visitors to gaming halls, often over long distances and using various modes of transportation.
• Purchases cover subscribed services (IT, maintenance, advertising, etc.), which make up 20% of the carbon footprint, as well as the acquisition and resale of machines, representing 15% of emissions.

Energy is the third-largest source of emissions, accounting for 11.04% of the total. The continuous operation of gaming halls, 24 hours a day and 365 days a year, results in particularly high energy consumption.

Together, we are determined to meet the challenges that lie ahead. Our collaboration with D-Carbonize demonstrates our determination to act ever more responsibly, especially when it comes to the environment. Continuous improvement is our ambition, and we're ready to work towards it.
